"The Alpujarras in Andalucia is the most beautiful, magical place we have ever been to. We went with the idea of looking at property, we’d seen pictures on the web, and were drawn to it, but pictures don’t really prepare you for the stunning actuality. It took our breath away. We had contacted an estate agent on the Internet, and were initially shown around by them. We had made it quite clear that we had a limited budget and that we were looking for something inexpensive that needed some work, but not totally rebuilding, and not totally off the beaten track. They had photos of such properties on their website, but time and time again we were shown places that were either much too expensive, or consisted of a ruin on a virtually inaccessible piece of land. This is just what some people want, but not what was suited to our needs.

We met a couple of other estate agents who proceeded to do exactly the same thing, and came on heavily with the hard sell. We were disappointed and fed up when some people in our hotel who were also on a quest for property, told us about Nicol and gave us her number. We rang and arranged to go out with her the next day.

Nicol was/is the complete antithesis of the other estate agents. She listened to what we had to say, and then showed us exactly the type of properties we were interested in. She was completely open and honest about the pros and cons of each property, and put no pressure on us whatsoever. She is also a delightful and easy person to be with, looking at property with Nicol was a pleasure. Nicol speaks fluent English and Spanish, has lived in the Alpujarras for many years, and has excellent local knowledge and contacts. She has very good relationships with local people who respect her honesty, and therefore she knows about places and prices that other estate agents don’t. She loves and respects the ecology of the Alpujarras, and is not interested in quick buck property schemes that will damage the environment; she’s that rare creature, an estate agent of integrity. We found our house the first day we went out with Nicol. It was in a location we liked and suited our needs, at a price we could afford, and in a condition that we could manage to do something with on our limited budget. Nicol handled all the official stuff, and told us how to go about doing the things she actually couldn’t do for us.

She got quotes for us from several local builders and carpenters, and we decided on Jose Manuel de Torre, having seen the astonishing transformation he’d brought about on somebody else’s property. Jose Manuel has excellent contacts with local beaurocracies and can get all the official permissions needed quickly and efficiently. He’s a skilled and sensitive builder, not to mention being a lovely man. He’s performed acts of magic with our house, and we’re absolutely delighted with what he’s done and the price he’s done it for. It’s not quite finished yet, and Nicol continues to manage things for us at that end, as we haven’t yet got to the stage where we can actually go and live in Spain. She’s amazing, and we wouldn’t, couldn’t have done any of this without her.

We unhesitatingly recommend Alpusol, it reaches parts that other estate agents most definitely don’t!".
